Nowadays, technical textiles can be found everywhere in our environment. They are used in the agricultural, construction, apparel, geotextile, industrial and transportation (e.g. aerospace and cars) sectors as packing material, for human protection and sport or at home.
These high performance fabrics use fibers with specific properties (fire and heat proof, high elasticity module, untearable, waterproof etc.). Some of them are made from glass, aramids, carbon, basalt, polyester, polyamide, flax and hemp.
In order to weave such yarns, Burcklé has developed airjet and flat reeds that are made from abrasion resistant stainless steel under the MA33 (improved AISI 420), 18/8 (AISI 301) or TECH (AISI 420). These special materials provides a longer lifetime than standard stainless steel reeds (AISI 410) as well as improved weaving performances.
An advanced polishing technology is also applied to reduce the friction coefficient of the dents used in our reeds and to reduce yarn hairiness and cut.
